Dr. Jenny Conner

Contact: jconner@covenantweb.org

Jenny Conner has been the Covenant music librarian since she first came to Cleveland in 1985. She is responsible for pulling and filing the music that the choir sings each week, and overseeing the general organization of the choral library.

Besides participating in the music ministries at the church (she plays bells and sings in the choir; these groups have on occasion performed her compositions), Jenny has been most active in ministries for children. She was director of music for children and youth for 20 years. As a long-standing member (and one time chair) of the family ministries committee she has particular responsibility for the oversight of the Youth Sunday service each year. Jenny is an elder and has served several terms in the past as Clerk of Session. She was also on the Visioning Committee and on the Pastoral Search Committee that brought Jonyrma Singleton to the Covenant.

Jenny came to Cleveland from California in 1985 to study composition at the Cleveland Institute of Music where she received her Master, and then Doctorate, in 1992. She is an active composer and teaches both theory and composition to both young and old at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she developed and chairs the Suzuki theory program. She also teaches theory at the Baldwin Wallace conservatory.
