We give thanks, then, for the promise of our faith—that the Lord God will bless and keep us, the risen Christ is with us, and the Holy Spirit connects us with believers near and far. We take comfort and inspiration from the example of the earliest believers, who “spent much time together in the temple” and “broke bread at home … with glad and generous hearts” (Acts 2:46). As we anxiously track the news in these times—with numbers of new cases, numbers of persons who have died, and numbers of those who are recovering—we remember the good news of the gospel: “And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47).
d365.org has been posting daily devotions since 2006, reflecting a new theme based upon the Revised Common Lectionary each week. It is designed to inspire readers to live a relevant faith in a changing and complex world. The mobile app contains the same five devotional steps as the website: Pause, Listen, Think, Pray and Go. These steps allow the user to encounter Christ, reflect on scripture and receive encouragement to live out their faith.
From Covenant Member Ann Williams: “With this app you can read the scripture for the day along with a timely message for what is happening in our world and how you might apply that to your life. You can also listen to original d365 music which accompanies the readings. I have found this app to be very inspiring and helpful during this time. Plus it is free to download!”
The PC(USA) Office of Theology and Worship has developed a smartphone app for daily prayer. The Daily Prayer app provides simple, yet rich devotional resources for morning, midday, evening, and close of day. Each service includes psalms and readings from the confessions. Other elements include opening and closing words, biblical canticles, a thanksgiving for light and a prayer of confession. An advanced features menu allows users to customize which elements appear.
